301 Oakwood Street

Overall a very nice and memorable rental. We had three families under one roof, so it was fantastic that each could occupy a separate floor. The house is right on Rt 1, so the highway noise is noticeable, but we had no problems crossing the road with small kids to get to the beach. The top floor could definitely use a refurb - even just new carpet would go a long way. The property was more clean than most rentals we've stayed at, but not spotless. We would stay here again.

This rental had some good, some not so good characteristics. The biggest drawback was the location. There was a nicely furnished deck by the main entrance but since the house sits on the corner of Oakwood and Route 1, it was very noisy all the time when we were sitting on the deck.
There were pros and cons inside. A nice kitchen and a large dining table fit our group well, but the oven was dirty and one burner did not work. To be fair, a repair person came and fixed that half-way through the week. A wet bar with extra counter space was a nice addition between the kitchen and dining area.
Bathrooms were clean, but shower curtains were dirty or too short and in dire need of replacement. The floor on the lower level was sandy when we arrived. Intake vents were dusty. There was a large water spot on the ceiling of the half bath. The paint on some baseboards was chipped. Our tall person cleaned a large cobweb off the ceiling. Yet overall it was basically clean.
We could only access the garage by going through the house, which made storing beach gear awkward. There are two outside showers - one worked well, one did not. The path to the showers and the back yard itself were overgrown with weeds. The three season porch was only accessible through each of the main floor bedrooms.
Would we recommend? We enjoyed our week and the house met our needs as multi-generational group of 11, but the word we kept coming back to was "quirky." The house had an eclectic feel of a work in progress and while we don't plan to stay again, it might be okay for others.

The house overall was very nice, spacious, clean, and as advertised. It definitely is more spacious than it looks in the pictures, with large bedrooms, kitchen, and living areas. The location within walking distance to the beach and boardwalk was very convenient. There were a few downsides to our stay:
1) the Wifi was broken all week (from check-in to check-out), and was not fixed even after the cable company came out and said it was fixed. Wilgus was very helpful and tried their best to resolve the problem, but it was still frustrating to not have wifi service all week (meaning we had to burn through personal hotspot data limits in order to use the smart TV/streaming or connect for work). The problem was still unresolved when we checked out.
2) With the house being on a side street on the corner of Route 1, we dealt with dangerous drivers in front of our house all week (turning onto our street too fast or speeding down our street to/from Route 1). Beware to those with small kids!
3) The house does not really have a usable back yard...the only outdoor space is the front deck featured in the photos.
Overall these issues only detracted slightly from our experience.
